Steven Soderbergh is bringing his fear-of-disease thriller Contagion to shoot in Hong Kong in a move that is likely to stir up painful memories of the deadly SARS epidemic in 2003 that spread around the world from China, shaking its one-party government.
Josie Ho, the singer-actress who last appeared in the slasher film Dream Home, told The Hollywood Reporter that Soderbergh has hired her to join the Hollywood ensemble cast in her native Hong Kong at the end of Sept.
In Soderbergh’s first visit to Greater China as a director, Ho, a daughter of Macau’s wealthiest gaming tycoon, is set to play the sister of “Patient Zero”, a casino worker who spreads a deadly virus to passengers on an airplane leaving for the United States.
Ho, who met Soderbergh in Hong Kong in July, said she would draw on her own memories of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome outbreak to play her role in Contagion.

Kate Winslet’s “happy” boyfriend
Kate Winslet’s new boyfriend Louis Dowler has spoken about his romance with the actress, saying he is very ”happy” with her.
Model Louis Dowler — who began dating the Oscar-winning actress in June following her split from estranged husband Sam Mendes earlier this year — has spoken for the first time about their romance and couldn’t contain his excitement.
Speaking at the Virgin Media V Festival, in Chelmsford, Essex, earlier this month, Louis told Grazia magazine: “I feel really happy at the moment, although Kate’s not coming today, unfortunately. So I’m here with friends having a relaxing day out. Kate’s in Reading visiting family this weekend but I’m going to meet up with her on Sunday or Monday, which will be great.”
The Reader star is thought to have invited Louis to meet her parents in her hometown but the hunk had already made plans with friends to go to the festival.
Sources close to Kate — who has nine-year-old daughter Mia with first husband Jim Threapleton and seven-year-old Joe with Sam — say the pair are smitten with each other.
A friend said: “We all thought it was just going to be a fling, but it’s been going on a couple of months now and they seem to be getting closer and closer. Louis is making Kate really happy, he is just the kind of guy you want around if you’ve been going through a tough time, as he really looks out for the people he cares for.”

Kate Winslet enjoys a romantic clinch with new man Louis Dowler, after checking out his flat… and doing the cleaning.
The Titanic star has been spending lots of time at the Burberry model’s pad in Kensington, West London, this week.
A source said: “Kate had to find out where her man lived and what his digs were like so she got her limo over there.
“She did a bit of cleaning and thought it was a cute flat — he passed all the tests. She was even joking around answering the door to strangers. They got quite a shock when an Oscar-winner answered. It’s like she’s got a new lease of life with Louis.”
The pair, both 34, met after Kate split from husband Sam Mendes, 45, in March.

From the owner of a fish’n'chip shop to actress Kate Winslet, New York City is bursting with English people, and these expats, famous and not so famous, are the subject of a Jason Bell’s stunning new series of photographs
Long before he’d mastered a camera, let alone become one of Britain’s most successful portrait photographers of stars on both sides of the Atlantic, the seed was sown that Jason Bell would one day move to the Big Apple: “There was a picture of New York on the wall in my childhood home in Camden Town which fascinated me. I remember thinking, ‘Wow, that’s the capital of the world.’”
So in 2003, with a photography portfolio full of A-listers and several works in the National Portrait Gallery collection, Bell decided to buy an apartment in New York and divide his time equally between there and London. “I had this slight feeling that I’d shot everyone in London and it was time for pastures new. When I arrived in New York I seemed to shed my baggage. I was free to be who I wanted to be. It was thrilling.”
Bell soon realized that he was by no means the only Brit getting a kick out of New York. In 2006, on an “Anglomania” shoot of British models and socialites for American Vogue in an English tea room called Tea & Sympathy, the co-owner, Nicky Perry, pointed out to him that there are more than 120,000 British people living in the city. “I suddenly thought, ‘Wouldn’t it be interesting to find out why all these people left England?’ And, of course, I also had all these questions about what I personally was doing there.”
The result is a stunning series of photographs, entitled An Englishman in New York, comprising portraits of Bell’s fellow settlers in the Big Apple, from celebrities such as Kate Winslet and Sting, to chefs, a helicopter pilot and even a rat-catcher. Flicking through, it’s striking how many of the sitters, like Bell, trace their arrival there to a fantasy spun from childhood. It was Ella Fitzgerald’s version of Cole Porter’s “Manhattan” that hooked the singer Estelle as a teenager, while the artist Cecily Brown describes how, arriving in the East Village, she thought, “I’ve moved to Sesame Street.”
“Which Brings Me To You” is no more
A bad news: Kate is no more part of the cast of Which Brings Me To You, the new film by Susanne Bier. Filming had to start in August, but IMDb has just erased Kate and Bradley Cooper’s names of the cast. Besides, Bradley confirmed in an interview that he would very much like to work with Kate and that he had nearly had his dream become true.
He said in an interview:
“Any attractive young women you’d like to work with?
[...] And Kate Winslet. I almost got to work with her. I love her.”
What a pity. I was looking forward to this project… 
Kate Winslet dating British model?
Actress Kate Winslet is reportedly dating a young British model four months after splitting with filmmaker husband Sam Mendes.
The 34-year-old Oscar winner is said to have become inseparable from Louis Dowler in recent weeks, whom she met through mutual friends at a party.
Dowler, also 34, is ten years younger than Mendes and the Titanic star has apparently stuck up a close friendship with him.
Dowler, six foot tall, has appeared in a number of high-profile advertising campaigns and has modeled for fashion house Burberry with Kate Moss.
The pair are believed to have spent increasing amounts of time together recently and saw each other in New York while Dowler was on a fashion shoot, News of the World reported.
“They’ve been on lots of dates and get on really well. It’s early days for them but they enjoy each other’s company,” a source told the newspaper.
“He’s a good looking guy and gets lots of attention when he’s out and about — but he’s not your typical model. Not at all big-headed. Louis has a good sense of humor and really is a lovely guy. He loves to surf and he’s really quite engaging and very down-to-earth,” the source added.
Winslet, who won the Best Actress Oscar trophy for her role of a Nazi officer in The Reader, separated from Mendes in March this year. They have a six-year-old son Joe while Winslet has a nine-year-old daughter Mia, from her previous marriage to producer Jim Threapleton.
Their marriage hit the rocks after they shot Revolutionary Road together, ironically about a couple on the brinks of break up co-starring Leonardo DiCaprio.

Aishwarya Rai, Kate Winslet set for L’Oréal ad
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is to team with Kate Winslet on a new ad campaign for L’Oréal, it has been reported.
Both are ambassadors for the cosmetics giant and will work together on a commercial film to be shot over the next few weeks, The Times of India reported.
The ad is being filmed on location in Italy over two days, the paper said.
And it seems the former Miss World is excited about hanging out with the Academy Award winner, whom she met briefly in the past.
Other media have quoted anonymous sources close to the Indian actress as saying she is “very excited to meet Kate”.
While her last film, Raavan, tanked at the box-office, her appeal clearly remains Titanic.

Kate Winslet and Mendes: Reconciliation rumors not true
Kate Winslet and Sam Mendes will not be trying to save their marriage, according to reports.
Rumors have been circulating recently in the media that the pair have put their divorce on hold and are working on their marriage for the sake of their children.
It was also reported that they were attempting to put the spark back in their relationship by going on a romantic break together.
But a spokesperson for film-maker Mendes told GossipCop.com that the rumors are not true.
The Revolutionary Road star, 34, and Mendes, 44, married in 2003, but separated earlier this year in March.
Their split was said to be completely mutual.
