Kate Winslet took a trip back in time yesterday modeling another vintage dress on the NY set of her HBO miniseries, Mildred Pierce. So far we’ve seen her in an array of hats, coats, and accessories from the ’40s, and this time she shared the shot with a vintage car.

Location junkies only have to make the short drive to Peekskill today for a hope at glimpsing Academy Award winner Kate Winslet shooting HBO’s remake of Mildred Pierce. On Location Vacations reports that the production is filming around First Street and Crompond Road in Peekskill today.

Peekskill, only a couple of hours down the Thruway, is just one of several upstate locations that have managed to get some Hollywood location shooting in the past year. Salt and The Other Guys both did some filming in Albany during 2009.

Kate Winslet would have blended in as just another NYC resident if it weren’t that everyone else around her stood out as well! Kate was back at work on the set of her new period piece film Mildred Pierce on the streets of NYC on Sunday and Monday. Kate Winslet wore a brown costume on the NYC set of Mildred Pierce on Sunday, while this morning she left her apartment headed to work in a blue period getup. She returned home to the Big Apple after her bikini-filled Mexican vacation to focus on her new project amid all the attention coming her way in the wake of her split from Sam Mendes. Kate and Sam have been doing their best to keep things normal for their kids Mia and Joe, and her getting back to work might help in establishing a new routine.

Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet is narrating a new video for PETA to try and help stop the production of foie gras.

The Reader star, 34, narrates a new video calling for a ban on the sale of the delicacy and the clip has been sent to department stores across the world, including Fortnum and Mason in London and El Corte Ingles in Madrid.

The video also shows undercover footage of what the ducks and geese have to go through to make the “delicacy of despair” and it is hoped it will persuade bosses to take it off the shelves.

Winslet says: “To produce foie gras, ducks and geese are force-fed enormous amounts of grain and fat, which causes their livers to swell to many times the normal size.”
